Junior Leadership

This program will be an introduction to student leadership.  Students will be exposed to the fundamentals of leadership through the study of different leadership styles and practical, hands on projects.  Furthermore, students will have an opportunity to learn leadership skills while participating in student government, fostering school spirit, and serving the Macdonald High School community through fundraising and activities.

Assessments in all 3 terms will follow the model below:

  1. Regular journal entries.  Students are expected to maintain a journal filled with regular entries reflecting on classes, events and activities related to Student Life and MAC Leadership.
  2. Projects: 60% - Every student in the class is expected to manage at least 1 major event, or 2 - 3 smaller projects.  As the Project Manager, they will be responsible for every aspect of the event, from managing their peers, to advertising.  A successful project will also include a documented step-by-step package which can serve as a guide for next year's leadership students.
  3. Participation: 20% - In order to ensure the success of each project, every student in the class is expected to take an active role in planned activities.  Absence of any activity should be reported to the Project Manager(s) AND Mr. Chang.
